Our Mission and Your Impact
Swing Left Maricopa County established the Congressional District (CD) 01 Volunteers to help replace outgoing CD 01 incumbent David Schweikert with a Democrat in the 2026 midterm election. The primary goal of the CD 01 Volunteers is to recruit an army of volunteers who are prepared to act immediately to turn CD 01 blue once a Democratic candidate prevails in the primary.
The Stakes in CD 01
Although David Schweikert is leaving office, the constituents of CD 01 continue to face significant risks. It is crucial that we do not allow a Schweikert clone—or someone even more extreme—to fill this seat. Schweikert rubber stamped Trump’s Big Ugly Bill and many other Project 2025 agenda items. Now, Trump and Turning Point U.S.A. endorsed Republicans competing for Schweikert’s seat support even more radical policies.
Why Flipping CD 01 Matters
With the House holding its slimmest majority in nearly a century, turning CD 01 blue is vital for regaining control of the chamber and ending GOP dominance. Achieving this goal is essential to stopping Trump’s agenda.

Ground Truth is an innovative canvassing method recently introduced by Swing Left. This initiative is designed to expand Ground Truth to CD 01 volunteers, enabling deep-listening canvasses and phone banks in a district where control of Congress could be determined.
Through a focused persuasion strategy, Ground Truth delves into voters’ perceptions of Democrats and explores the obstacles that our CD 01 candidates could address to gain their support during the midterm elections.
The qualitative data gathered from these conversations will offer valuable insights into the challenges Democrats face when trying to attract new voters and regain those who have previously left. Ultimately, this information will serve as a roadmap for persuasive efforts in the 2026 midterm elections and beyond.
